How much space does the band need?

A rough guide to our preferred stage space is 6m wide 4m deep. This is only a guide and we are very flexible with setting up, providing we can all fit somewhere! We also need a 2m x 2m space about 20m from the front of the stage for our sound engineer and mixing desk.

Can CD's be played as background music?

CD's can be played through the p.a. during any breaks. If you have any particular music that you would like to provide on CD we will be happy to put it on.

Other use of the p.a.

Generally speaking, we don’t encourage the use of our p.a. by other parties (e.g. other acts at your event) as it is tailored for our performances. However if event organisers need a microphone for announcements, thanks etc. that is no problem.

What are the power requirements for the band?

The band uses a maximum of about 2800 watts. This can be taken from two separate standard 13-amp mains feed (ie: 2 separate plug sockets), the limit on a socket is around 3500 watts. If your event is being held in a marquee we strongly recommend that you check with your marquee provider, as they will be able to advise on power supply. Also, if any of our power supplies (plug sockets) is running off of an extension lead, they must not be shared with other electrical equipment, e.g. catering ovens, lights, etc.

Can we choose a specific first dance?

Yes. We are happy to learn 1 song especially for your first dance if you supply us with your chosen song on CD, or an mp3 via email, at least 1 month prior to your event.

How do we book the band?

Booking is made via email or telephone and is subject to availability. No deposit is required. Terms of business are payment in full, at least 7 working days prior to performance.

How loud is the band?

Wheelz is not a particularly loud band, However, it is the venue acoustics that dictates how loud the band sounds. In our experience, we recognise that for most parties, you need the band to be loud enough on the dance floor to create an atmosphere without deafening the rest of the room. In marquees and venues with carpeted floors and soft furnishings this is easy to achieve due to the 'dead acoustics'. In rooms and halls with high ceilings, wooden/stone floors and lots of windows the echo of the acoustics makes the volume much harder to control.

Do you need to look at the venue prior to performance?

It is not absolutely necessary for us to view a venue prior to the performance providing the space and power requirements (see above) can definitely be accommodated.

How long does it take the band to set up and do you sound-check?

It takes 45-60 minutes to set up and we will then need to tune up and test the microphones. However, this won't involve a long "sound check" and certainly does not need the room to be cleared!
